Job Role: User Experience Consultant
Make things better, as a user centred design and research consultant.
Flow Interactive is a leading UK-based user experience research, design and strategy consultancy. Flow Interactive in South Africa is a smaller outpost, run by one of Flow's founding directors. But we've got big aspirations and a rapidly growing number of clients.
We have a small team based in Claremont/Kenilworth.
The user experience consultant role involves:
- Working with target users in usability tests or contextual enquiry
- Performing expert evaluations of interactive products
- Delivering wireframe interaction design prototypes
- Presenting deliverables to clients, and running workshops
- Pitching work and writing proposals
- Marketing, design, networking, public speaking, blogging... to make the company tick.
You'd need to be:
- Talented. At relating to target users, organising information, leading groups, designing interactive systems.
- Denizen of the boundaries. You exist most happily at the place where disciplines meet. Technology, design, communication, research and business analysis to name a few. Anthropology, project management, strategy and marketing to name a few more. You started off in one of those spaces - but you always had an aptitude for a few of the others too.
- Educated and experienced: You need a good degree and at least 3 years relevant industry experience.
We're still a small company, so it's a fairly special situation. You need to be the right kind of person...
- Happy to muck in. When you're this size, everyone does everything. Pitching, proposing, researching, designing, marketing, networking, public speaking, building desks, having brainwaves.
- Entrepreneurial. There's no opportunity to slack off. Get the work in and dazzle the clients or you don't eat.
- Client facing. You need to be able to present your services, ideas, findings and creations to clients in a compelling way. Persuade, enagage, inspire - even when you're in at the deep end.
And what's in it for you?
- A competitive salary
- Extra incentives to go the extra mile - let's discuss what would motivate you
- A chance to help build a genuinely successful, pleasant, worthwhile place to work
- A job that uses a broad range of skills from research to design - you don't just sit in the same box
- A whole load of learning and training about user-centred design principles and practice
- A community of UX designers in London that regularly shares ideas, questions and discoveries
